  1. Fake: I chose the chainsaw illusion, because though you are seeing doesn’t make it true. People’s eyes are experiencing an illusion. Everyone knows what can or cannot be true.
Haox: I chose the Fairy picture in Monsters, kittens and aliens because from our knowledge we know that fairys dont exist. They are just a character of imagination in lala land.
Propoganda: I chose the World war 11 posters because they are specifically made for people to react in a way in which they would want to buy war bonds to support the people fighting in the war.

  2. For faked photos i chose number 8 in the 10 most doctored photos, the “dead woman” is holding the doctor’s arm so that is what made it fake.People might of believed this because there was a war going on at that time.
For hoaxes i picked “The balloon that didn’t fly”, this is clearly fake because how is 1 helium balloon suppose to carry a si year old boy,i guess why people would believe this is because the boy was missing at the same time the balloon was.
For propaganda I chose poster 6 in WWII propaganda posters because it is trying to persuade women to join the war and get involved.

  3. Fake: [Chainsaw Illusion]get real -_-. I bet that guy would cry if he sat on a knife, how is he supposed to get Cut in Half ?!?! And it defies Physics.
Hoax: Top Ten Hoaxes that Fooled the World. READ THE TITLE
Propaganda: Poster 7 , WWII:Intense Propaganda Posters ; Religion and the Catholic Church being the “figure” that controlled Everything back then, going Against Hitler, the Nazi’s, being what was dominating society already by providing Hope, was just a for sure thing that those uneducated people would buy into.

  4. A Brief History of Photo Fakery – In a preview of celebrity magazine cover techniques, a popular image of Abraham Lincoln is actually his head grafted to the more majestic body of John Calhoun, a senator and vice president.

For some reason our school president (Mr. Appel) always reminds me of Abraham Lincoln. Anyway, I disagree with the magazine because not every politician look the same regardless they all have power. To people that doesn’t know about the original picture they might have in their head the stereotype look of politicians and this picture could’ve tricked them.

WWII: Intense Propaganda Posters – Fascist Beast: A grotesque SS ghoul drools over the body of a murdered woman. “Kill the Fascist Beast!” reads this 1942 Soviet poster.

I see a brutal demon craving blood of an innocent women. This poster is strongly symbolic. People would believe this because Nazi gained much hatred after what they did to people, their people in fact.

Monsters, kittens and aliens: the greatest hoaxes that fooled the world – In early 2000, the image of Snowball the monster cat began circulating via e-mail, claiming that the cat’s huge size was a result of its mother being found abandoned near a Canadian nuclear lab. In May 2001 Cordell Hauglie came forward claiming that he created the image with his daughter’s cat, to email to a few friends as a joke, never intending for it to spread as far as it did.

I definitely would believe this if I didn’t read the explanation because I’ve seen tons of pictures like this on the internet so any giant-fat-cat picture would blind me easily.

  5. Image #2 of “Monsters, kittens, and aliens: the greatest hoaxes that fooled the world”- In this picture, a girl is in a garden with four fairies dancing in front of her. This photo was taken in 1917, and it fooled the world for 53 years. Finally, in 1970, the girl in the picture admitted that it was only a hoax. This simple picture shows how gullible people can be. A reason why people believed this is because the human minds of the 1900s were not as sceptical as the minds nowadays. And 1917 is approximately the time where technology began to bloom, so if the people were convinced that a flash of light can capture a moment in time, then they were ready to believe that fairies exist.

Image #5 of “A Brief History of Photo Fakery”- There are actually two pictures. The one on the left has four men, but on the right side, one man had been cropped out. Stalin, the tyrannical dictator, was known to remove the images of his enemies, and this man had been a threat to him. I think people believed this because the government forced them to believe it. Even if people have seen the original, Stalin was so powerful and cruel, no one wanted to speak out against the picture. Or it could be because the technology was not as advanced, and cropping out someone was an extraordinary feat to accomplish, so people believed it.

  6. In image 12,of Photo Fakery, I find what many individuals would believe to be true, for the second image was altered but that picture was released to the public a day before the actual image.
Few people believed Hitler’s diary, image 19 of Hoaxes, to be real because of their enthusiastic to gain more history knowledge. With the text of the diary that looks similar to that of Hitler handwriting, one would have to think logic before deciding.

The Propaganda poster of Hitler image 17 is said to be believable to people because all of the features of that image are based off of his actions, which are learned in textbooks about and only his bad deeds. The picture is actually exaggerating. Basically, it is showing one side that everyone knows about: The Holocaust and how “evil” it is

  7. Fake:
The photo i like was #12 from A Brief History of Photo Fakery. I like it because the government is trying to impress other by adding another missile and removing the malfunctioning truck.
    Hoaxes:
The hoaxes that i like most was the people telling other that Napleon was dead during thier time. Then after a while, when the hoaxes have spreaded, Napleon returned to take charge. Which i would think gave those that heard the hoax a scare.
    Propaganda:
    None

  8. Fake: Photo 11 in a A Brief History of Photo Fakery, this photo is altered to make it seem like there is more smoke, so it is easy to believe that it is real.
Hoaxes: Picture 2 in Monsters, kittens and aliens: the greatest hoaxes that fooled the world. In 1917 two girls returned from playing in their garden with a camera and apparent proof of fairy life. It was easy to believe it because back in 1917 the cameras were not good quality at all.
Propaganda: Poster 6 in the WWII posters because it is trying to persuade women to join the war.

  9. Fake:
The photo I like was #1. I liked it because its common sense that it is fake. It shows that the man is sitting but he is in the air and that the atmosphere is blowing the gun away but the gun is to heavy to float in the air.
    Hoaxes:
I like Napleon was dead. I liked it because they said that Napleon was dead but came back and took charge.
    Propaganda:
I like the one with Hitler. I liked it because we learned that Hitler is a bad person and the picture is also showing that he is bad.

  10. Fake: The one with Iranian rockets. They believed that the 4 rockets being fired, because it sounds more reasonable than only have 3 out of 4 rockets being fired.
Hoax: The hoaxes that i like most was the people telling other that Napoleon was dead during their time, because it is easier to believe that an evil thing is gone rather than believing that he is still alive.
Propaganda: I cant find a propaganda picture in the links…

  11. Fake: Number one on the photo fakery because as described they just changed the back ground and it does seem like it. People might’ve believed it because its still a picture, at least.
Hoax:The second picture on the telegraph, there’s bunch of fairies there with a girl taking picture. -___- , they might’ve believed it, but how come they didn’t take some fairies? Just Kidding, but really.
Propaganda:The picture with the monkey being an astronaut, like what seriously that smart and being able to communicate and breath fine like that. No -_- .

  12. Photo Fakery: Stalin would take his enemies out of pictures he would take with them, I think this is hilarious. He really took the time and effort just to take someone he disliked out of his photos, back then that wasn’t easy to do and it wasn’t cheap either. That proves he was a true hater.

Hoaxes: The hoax I’m choosing is the gnome image, it’s just a dark shadow and it could’ve been anything. It just goes to show how much credit we give photos that can decieve us.

Propaganda:The only source of propaganda I had found was one about a monkey named Ham going off into space and helping America with discoveries about space.

  13. Peop;le believe what they see because 2 reasons:

    1) The Misconception: When your thoughts are challenged with facts, you change your opinions and interpret the new information into your thinking.

    2) The Truth: When your deepest convictions are challenged by contradictory evidence, your thoughts get stronger.

  14. Photo: We believe what we see because it is there. There is really nothing that can change what is there. Although everything might be an opinion, they still believe it because it seems right like the picture titled “Worst Pie Chart Ever”.
Hoax: They expect us to believe that aliens have made a presentation, but in reality its just some person trying to scare some people.
Propaganda: There’s a smiling lady which does not relate to the war.

  15. Faked Pictures – In the original picture of John Paul Filo, at the “Kent State Shooting,” there is a post behind the woman that is kneeling by the person on the floor. There is republished version of this photo by Life Magazine where the post is gone. Even though the post is gone, individuals can easily believe the picture is still original for, what they see is reasonable and believable. If an alien were added to the picture, it wouldn’t be as visually normal to our eyes. Faked pictures are believable because through our perception, we see pictures as if they are normal and ordinary for they are supported by our observations, experiences, and supported by our knowledge and view of the world.

Hoaxes– In 1983, there were diaries pages published in Sunday Times and Newsweek. Readers were told that Hitler wrote theses diary pages and to a huge extent everyone believed in this idea. People believed that Hitler wrote those diary entries, for the passages written were expected of him. Everyone based their belief on the knowledge they had on Hitler from their past observations and experiences. People believe in Hoaxes for it connects and makes sense to them.

Propaganda’s – Propaganda’s are a form of advertisement and persuasion that is spread in the form of pictures and ideas, to influence people to think in a certain way. In the picture Bad-Luck Busters: Friday the 13th With an Anti-Superstition Society, it shows bundles of cookies with the number thirteen written on it, showing us the significance Friday the 13th has in our lives and that numerous people believe in the idea that Friday the 13th is bad luck. Some believe in this idea, for they have experienced events that lead them to believe in this propaganda and that is why the propaganda influences the thoughts of people.

  16. Fake Photos: I choose the Civil War Generals, c. 1865 because I was fooled, I thought that there was no different the between photos but when I look at it closely and compare the two photos. One of the generals are gone on the picture. Maybe some people think that its the same but its not.

Hoaxes:I choose the fake of corpse fairy because you can see the wings is plastic. People believe that this is real because they grow up believing it that mythical creature are real.

Propaganda: People believe at propaganda because it uses to encourage people to believe in them and to support that product.

  17. Fake Photos: The photo of the smoke being added did make sense, so I actually did believe it wasn’t fake.

Hoax: People believed the “alien”, because it did look kinda real, with its body and face wasn’t as fake and obvious.

Propaganda: The picture with Ray Charles was to promote rare pictures of celebrities.

  18. Fake Photos: All people observe differently depending on our own opinions. Some people can automatically tell if a picture is fake and some cannot.

Hoaxes: People that made up that Aliens are real and made a presentation are only lies. The truth is that they were made to only scared people. Some people will notice and some will not.

Propaganda: People sees propagandas and believe in them, and its only based on what people think about it. For example, if there was a sign of a lady showing her arm muscle, it’ll only demonstrates that ladies can be strong like guys too.

  19. Fake Photos: Some pictures look so real or hard to notice that is fake that a lot of people believe in them.

Hoaxes: There is a lot of rumors about aliens and a lot of them seem real but it is not scientifically proved that they exist. The more people talk and share about aliens, the more people will believe in them.

Propaganda: Propaganda usually uses people’s feelings to make them believe in something. I think it is a kind of brain washing because even though some people do not believe in what propaganda say, they use images or phrases that affect people’s feeling. Then, people follow their feelings and believe in propaganda.

  20. Fake Photos:Some pictures look so real that people can’t tell if it’s real or fake. And so people believe that they are real.

Hoaxes:People believed the alien is real because people always talk about aliens and hears rumors about them. They made is up to make people feel nervous. There were no proof/evidence that aliens do really exists.

Propaganda: People believe what they see in propaganda because it is used to make people feel a certain way or act.

  21. Fake Photos: Sometime, we just cannot tell whether the things we’re seeing is it true or fake because it’s just seems so believable. And some people end up misunderstand them and thought that they are real.

Hoaxes: People haven’t seen Aliens before but because everyone is saying and making movie about Aliens coming from other planet, so made some people think that there is actually Alien in other planet. But the question is, can they prove that Aliens do really exist? If not, this is only something that they made up.

Propaganda: People usually believe this because Propaganda is something that people do to make everyone believe in them no matter what.

  22. Doctored Photos: In the photo where George W. Bush is visiting George Sanchez Charter School in Houston, it appears as if he is holding the book upside-down. This photograph was later found to be false and simply edited to make the cover of the book appear upside-down. It was a sham. We believe this photo to be true, because it is the only thing we see, and we believe our senses to hold truth. If no one had ever found out photo editing software was used, we would have believed the photo to be real today.

Hoaxes: The hoax of Hitler’s Diary caused great stir and seemed to be real for an extremely short period of time till it was later discovered to be false documents. We would believe this because if such grand amounts of money were being paid, and such great attention was being given, then they had to be real. Until disproven by experts, that is.

Propaganda: In the picture where a North Korean soldier is sticking out his tongue, we might first simply look at it and think nothing more than a little joke, something to tickle the funny bone and nothing more. If we further analyze the photo, we begin to see the soldier’s eyes, his posture, him as a whole. We see that this might be a way to show aggression. Yet, if we don’t look over what we see once, we might never know what truly lies within.

  23. Fake Photos: Everything is not as what it seems, just like how a picture can look so real but be so fake at the same time.

Hoaxes: There are many rumors and theories of aliens existing in this universe but there’s still no actual real hard evidence to prove that they do. But if everyone is saying aliens exist, the obviously you would give in and be so curious to why everyone else is.

Propaganda: Propaganda affects peoples feelings and gets in their head where it really matters and hits, much like brainwashing.

  24. Fake photos: People can believe anything when they see that there’s a photograph about it. Sometimes they cant realize that someone could of easily added fake details on it or take off parts of the truth. We should all be aware and notice the whole photo to see whether its real or fake.

Hoaxes: We all believe mostly everything that we hear and see on television or anything that we read on the newspaper and internet as well. When we hear a story, we think its true even though it can sound suspicious. The investigators have to do the full research in order to determine is it is real or false.

Propaganda: Someone who wants to get an idea across will do whatever it takes to make people accept that and agree to it. That’s why propaganda are useful to persuade someone into doing or agreeing to something. People are gullible and will believe in many things that they see.

  25. Fake Photos (A Brief History of Photo Fakery) – Fake picture is easy to be believed according to our own knowledge and observations. Mao removed Po Ku from the picture after he wasn’t favorable anymore (image 9). People easily believed the picture upon their knowledge as it was publish. Even today fake photography is use to make news a big hit. Few years ago, a Reuters News agency’s freelance photographer took a picture of buildings burning and rising of smoke after an Israel air strike on the Suburbs of Beirut (image 11). The picture that was published had more smoke added to it than the original picture had. Adding and cropping out things from a picture became popular as the technology grew. Yet people kept believing the picture upon their knowledge and observation on the event, person, and time and supported by the world view on their own.

Hoaxes (The Greatest Hoaxes that Fooled the World) – Hoaxes occurs to be sensible so it’s believable. On 1st of April in 1996 there was a full page advertisement on America’s major newspapers which stated that the fast food Taco Bell was going to buy the Liberty Bell and rename it Taco Liberty Bell (image 22). While as it was advertised so wildly on major newspapers, people believed in so instantly, yet it wasn’t even true and because its name Taco Bell people might have thought it would be true because it made sense. As another fact was when Hitler’s Diaries were posted out (image 19). People believed in the words written in the dairy as it was really Hitler’s without any questions till Kourad Kujau admitted that it was the biggest hoaxes attempted. Words humans read and things humans’ sees are based upon sense. A hoax occurs when the story connects to the human sense and makes sense throughout.

Propaganda (WWII: Intense Propaganda Posters) – Propaganda is occurred to make humans think in a certain way by the spread of pictures and news. The show named “Life Goes to a Cat” in 1952 held on the National Cat Week was a show to feed the hungry and starving cats (Life goes to a cat show, 1952). Afterward the cat owners started to starve their own cat to make them look skinny and poor, just to be the part of the show and be on TV. This made the cats suffer the hunger for no reason and people to be able to go on the show to feed their cat. And none of the owner thought about the cats as they suffered. While when the 13th Friday news came up as it the 13th of Friday was bad luck for many people (Bad-luck Busters). The accidents occurred on the Friday 13th; people blamed it on the 13th Friday. The bad luck on Friday 13th new spread out and became famous. While in some British country it is also knows as a Black Friday, because the color black stands for bad times. The effects of a new spreading out and peoples believing in it is a way of propaganda spreading and changes humans thought and view of point, it can be positive or negative, just depends on the way the thoughts are changing.

  26. Fake photos: People believe something based on what they see as long as it makes sense. They take it as an evidence to believe what they see is real and there is no other way to refuse it. However, none of the things that we see are always true. Sometime people add or cut a little detail and make it totally different than the truth. We can’t notice if it’s real or not.

Hoaxes: Same as what they see, people believe most of the thing they heard from someone or media. Some of them believe that zombies are exist somewhere out there in the world. People got more scared when they watch movie or read some resources about it. In fact, while filmmakers eager to exploit more about the subject and produce a series of impressive films, there is not yet a practical answer from scientists about zombies.

Propaganda: Propaganda is actually a poster that encourage or make people believe on what they trying to say through the picture or a phrase. It could makes people change their feelings toward something, positive to negative or reverse.

  27. Fake photos: Fake photos are pictures that are able to be photoshop or edit. Like in, A Brief History of Photo Fakery, image 6 was edit. The picture is exactly the same but they edit out the guy from the picture. When they edit the guy out that made the bridge darker to make it seem like it’s not edit/photoshop. Fake photos are here to trick our minds on believing if it’s real or not.

Hoaxes: I chose Hitler’s Diaries as the biggest hoaxe because two scam artists chose to take a giant leap and forge Adolf Hitler’s handwriting, making mistakes along the way. People believed this because the diaries passed three writing tests and it came from Germany, but their story just seemed fake. Someone would have found his diaries by now it would not have been uncovered by a reporter. Just making everyone seem gullible.

Propaganda : I chose picture 31 from “WWII: Intense Propaganda Posters.” This propaganda was to encourage and persuade the men to volunteer for the submarine service because they would get honored and would appeal to the women because they did something for their country.

  28. Fake photos: People can see the picture, but where is real and where is fake? Some can realize it, and some else cannot. They just believe what they see and they think that it’s all. They don’t know that one problem has a lot of sides, and that thing makes people to be wrong some time when they just see one side of the problem.
Hoaxes : Sometimes people are hoaxed by others but they don’t know and they just act what they think. Actually, it may bring them to a dangerous situation.
Propaganda : Propaganda influences public opinion and makes people feel weak or afraid if they don’t follow what posters and leaders are telling them. Propaganda makes people think irrationally by using their emotions and stop think for themselves.

  29. Fake Photo: When people look at a picture, they cannot tell whether it is fake or not because a fake picture looks just like a real picture.
Hoaxes: People are easily hoaxed by what they see when they do not know the truth.
Propaganda: Propaganda can get people to think what you want them to think. It is another way to manipulate others.

  30. Fake Photos: We can see the photos but it is easy to realize when something is not true, some different for others and the truth of the fake photos there for most that understand its contents.

Hoaxes: People don’t know the truth but tend to assume things.

Propaganda: A magazine, newspaper cover or picture about choosing a side, mostly trying to get people to think low of another/their competition.

  31. Faked Photos: In the article, “A Brief History of Photo Fakery”, they show several photos which have been doctored throughout history. Such a photo is on slide 6 where it depicts Mussolini riding a horse but the horse handler has been edited out so that Mussolini could look more heroic. I believe that people believe such photos because they seem so realistic and without prior knowledge, such as the original photo, it’s impossible to know if something is real or fake.

Hoax: Several hoaxes are shown in the article, “Monsters, kittens and aliens: the greatest hoaxes that fooled the world”. Many of these hoaxes fooled a large number of people, such as the “fairy corpse” or the picture of the Loch Ness monster. People believed these because they played upon things, such as legends or myths, that some people may have already believed to be true, such as Bigfoot.

Propaganda: Propaganda is normally used to get people to think a certain way. Such can be said in WWII propaganda or in cigarette advertising. I believe that people believe in propaganda because it played on widely accepted opinions, or becomes to believable that it seems almost impossible to deny.

  32. Hoax: For the hoax topic “Hitler’s diary”, I think people believe this because of how iconic Hitler is. Hitler is world known, almost every country studies Hitler and WWII. People would have like to read the thoughts and day to day actions of Hitler and what drove him to the things he did to the Jew and his reasoning, this hoax persuades your curiosity and makes people believe it.

Fake: For the fake topic I chose “A Brief History of Photo Fakery” and I think people believes these photo because they were not there during that time period, so ideally they will believe them. To me the first thing that comes to my mind is Whose that? or Thoughts about the people in the photo when I see the picture and not if the photo is the fake or Overall if you were not there when the picture is taken you automatically think its real. These photos also play with your curiosity.

Propaganda: For propaganda I chose “Cigarette Advertising”, people chose to use these cigarette for the messages they send. For example, the advertising of the cigarettes helping with love sways consumers to buy the product, for everyone want to fall in love and get married. If this the propaganda says it might help you find love, you will want to buy it. Also the advertising portrays the wealthy, it gives us the message ‘ if you use cigarette you will look rich” and no one wants to look poor. Overall the propaganda portrays our secret desires or important people to grab your attention so they can persuade you to do whatever they are asking

  33. fake photos:I chose the Brief History Of Photo Fakery. Photos limit your views on the scenario, only revealing certain aspects of the situation. These pictures serve as a prime example that you should not believe everything you see whether its pictures or a video because not everything is set and stone.

hoax:I chose the chainsaw illusion because people often observe and make judgments from only what they are able to see, they rarely make judgments from observing the whole picture. Therefore they are often blindsided from the truth.

Propaganda: The main purpose of propaganda is to project your thinking into a specific direction. Propaganda may not always be true. It is very similar to hypnosis’ methods that are used to trick your brain into believing or doing what others are tell you to do.

  34. Fake Photos- OJ Simpson Time Magazine. It is not uncommon for newspapers to alter photos, Especially to fit beliefs of said newspaper for magazine. The cover of this TIME Magazine features a mug shot of O.J. Simpson, however this mug shot has been altered, featuring darker, blurrier, and unshaven face. Coming from a time when mostly the entire United States was convinced of his guiltiness, that image betrays him as more of a dark human being, suggesting him guilty of the crimes he has been accused of. When we look at this we do not notice the difference is between the original mug shot and altered one and subconsciouslyI shape our opinion based on the altered mug shot.

Hoax- hitler’s diary. Many people often take the word of the press as fact, and not analyzing the sources the press got it information from, and ultimately came to the conclusion of the authenticity of Hitler’s diary. While it can be expected that people of the general population would believe this news off the bat, a great deal of responsibility falls into the hands of the buyer, for his complete ignorance and paranoia led to him spending $6 million on a unauthenticated piece of history.

Propaganda: Smoking at this time. was something of the norm. Little research have been done to improve the positive and negative effects of smoking. With the propaganda betrayed by cigarette companies, pretraining images such as smoking cigarettes would lead to a happier and more fulfilled life. And just as people have throughout history, they took the word of authoritative figures for fact, and proposed little questioning to the reliability of said assertations, leading to a widespread belief of the authenticity of the claims smoking companies portrayed.

  35. Hoax: I chose the fairies are real picture of the dead fairy. I believe people could have bought into this hoax because of the body shape, weathering and style of “wings” as most descriptions of fairies would probably resemble this.

Propaganda: People can believe the propaganda especially of cigarettes when they see some celebrity hey love is the star. As they are inspired by their role models to do what they do.

Doctored Photos: People may have spliced the photo of Oprah and Ann because they probably respect Oprah and don’t believe she’d do something like that. Plus it looks proportionate enough.

  36. Fake photo: According to the Georgians of their dead son, to this day, the technology of “photo editing” or “video editing” is widely used, however not often, therefore the viewer needs to be cautious about their perception.

Hoax: For the frozen in time, being left in 60 hours in a large amount of frozen water is scientifically possible, however within room temperature, would already melt. Therefore can be scientifically proven wrong.

Propaganda: Propagandas are used to fool us into seeing what they “reveal” is true, and therefore is only a motivation, not a truth.

  37. Hoaxes: People will believe anything, especially if the news comes from media or magazines. Instead of investigating to find the truth, people will just go with the flow and will agree to anything.

Faked photos: They say a picture is worth a thousand words, but how do we know that its not a thousand lies. Photos could be edited or acted out to seem realistic. The photo of the “falling man” does not look realistic to me. The falling man just doesn’t seem worried enough that he is falling. I believe we should rely on our on views rather than another persons point of view.

Propaganda: Propaganda is false advertisement. Its a way to manipulate people into believing or buying things they want but in reality it never comes out the way its been advertised.

  38. fake photo:i chose the second picture in the 10 most famous doctored photos. this picture was created to exaggerate on the tragic of a death. people believe this because its common for people to automatically feel sad over these kinds of pictures/stories.
hoaxed photo:”the montauk monster. i chose this picture because people will often not believe it but want to find out more about it which , causes more hoaxes. some people just simply believe it because theres a picture of it.
propaganda photo: ” Cigarette Advertising” people who made this want to change other peoples’perspective of cigarettes.

  39. Faked Photos: I chose “A Brief History of Photo Fakery” because usually at that time, these days, we wouldn’t know what is actually there our self so if we see one of these photo for the first time we would tend to not know that it’s real or fake because we don’t know the real fact behind history as to those who are really there and know it for sure. Therefore people believe these photos because they don’t really look at what’s really there in the photo but what’s just there and by just looking, they don’t pay much attention to the details or the photo itself and information/ captions.

Hoaxes: I chose “Monsters, Kittens and Aliens: The Greatest Hoaxes That Fooled the World” because everything about such non-existing things are always exaggerated and emphasized on, where the thing “rumors” starts. And just because a person believes something they see, such as in movies, books, or dreams (often mistaken in real life) can lead to why others also believe the idea that such creatures exists. So as there are many who believe this, the more it is talked about and the more they believe it although there may be no proof yet just “evidence” in fantasy books or movie.

Propaganda: I chose “Cigarette Advertising” because people would find it believing in a way where the advertiser would pretty much persuade the audience into buying their product, according to this topic. By this, they would deceive the person and get their attention when they mentioned what it could do to you and change your life, like finding marriage and lover easily by buying cigarettes. But propaganda is most purposely biased, so by saying “buying cigarette is a good thing” it’s biased because not all people really think the same but the main point is that it’s advertising, and this convinces you to do it.

  40. Fake:I chose 10 of the Greatest Magic Tricks Ever. In human aspects, it is convincing to see people be put in an impossible situation but the illusion of the trick has to be merely explained in some way otherwise the dangers they’ve been put in would had been serious injuries. You can’t always believe what you see in your own real life experience of seeing others doing impossible acts.

Hoax:I chose Top 10 Shocking Hoaxes. In Hitler’s Diaries, though people have spoken that they have found the diaries of Hitler in Germany. It is proven that it is a hoax through a West German. This diary could of been made up by someone else and coincidently have the same type of writing.

Propaganda:Propaganda advertises and pictures the images that tells you what’s happening right now. Though there are little hints into giving a different impression that can be misunderstanding or such as false advertisements. The art of it can be very compelling to what you see but in other times, don’t always trust propagandas.

  41. For fake I chose “dead woman being carried by the Georgian soldiers from town” because if the woman is dead how can she be holding onto the person that was carrying her. I didn’t believe that picture one bit.
For hoax I chose the September 11 photo because how can that picture survive? Also if you saw a plane flying to the building to you were standing on how could you stay calm enough to take a picture? I didn’t believe that picture one bit as well.
For propaganda I chose the “Cigarette Advertisement” those advisement are supposed to make you think “oh I should change myself and not smoke ” or ” oh look smoking looks cool” or something along thoses lines. I personally am against smoking. It doesn’t matter what age you are you just should not smoke.

  42. fake photos:Looking at the top 20 optical illusions I saw that the bezold effect wasn’t tricking my perception. I believe some optical illusions work on some people and some worked on others.
Propaganda : Propaganda influences public opinion and makes people feel weak or afraid if they don’t follow what posters and leaders are telling them. Propaganda makes people think irrationally by using their emotions and stop think for themselves.

  43. Propaganda:Babies should be tought about other races at a early age and they should because they need to be able to distinguish from others
Hoax:Due to the fact of a hoax made by their kid many people were worried that the balloon had taken the child up high and many planes were re-routed the only possible reason for this might have been for fame
Fake Photos:Photo editors used a photo of George W Bush reading along with students and turned the cover upside down to make republicans look better

  44. Photo: people believe what they see because they might not have been aware of the editing in the photo. But most importantly, they believe it because it is there. The photo there looks just as legit as the real one.

Hoax: I chose #1 in “10 of the Greatest Magic Trick Ever”. People believe this magic trick, for they are bounded only to see what’s in front of them. Most of the time, magicians hide the background from the audience by using a black sheet to cover up things.

Propaganda: The main purpose of propaganda is to deceive people into believing in what you want. I believe that people believe in propaganda because they are deeply in needs. For example, if an old, sick person hear about people advertising medicine or herds that are “likely” to”help” him or her, they will most likely buy it and don’t realize that it may just be a propaganda. They believe it because they are in need to find something to cure themselves and are blinded to see that they are being tricked.

  45. Fake photos:I choose Brief Of Photo Fakery. The photo has many view but the one view is from how you view the image and what you decide it to look like.
Hoax: people should always believe what they see because they dont know whats true and there always two side of a story.

Propaganda: any information that would make you think what you think is true and what isnt true

  46. fake/ doc photos : you obviously can’t tell fake photos from real photos now a days because of technology … fake photos are always there to trick people…

hoax photos : well, people are under the expression of believing something is real… people can be judgmental & therefore, they believe what they want/ see , rather than looking at the whole story/ picture …

propaganda photos : these kind of photos are there to mess with people’s mind & emotions… & emotion can mess with your perception, therefore, a lot of people actually would believe something by that “gut” feeling …

  47. Faked Photos: I chose “A Brief History of Photo Fakery” because most of the pictures shown were from the past, and because they are from the past, people may believe that those pictures are actually the real images.

Hoaxes: I chose “Monsters, Kittens and Aliens: The Greatest Hoaxes that Fooled the World”. I think people believe in hoaxes if they believe in superstition. People tend to believe things if they see pictures of it and most of the hoaxes have pictures associated with them, so maybe that is why people may believe it.

Propaganda: Many people may believe in propaganda because they agree with it or because the ad might be persuasive enough to make them believe it. Propaganda is often aimed at a certain audience so that means that the people who make ads can manipulate an ad just to get a certain audience to support their cause.

  48. Faked Photos: The people believe the photos are real because they think of them as real images, not seeing what it really is.

Hoaxes: People believe in hoax because they don’t know whats out there and don’t realize that its fake or not.

Propaganda: People believe in propaganda because others believe in it and it influence them to believe in them.

  49. Fake Photos: Many people believe what they see when it comes to any type of photos. They tend to believe what people tell them, without proof and evidence, because they tend to believe what the Internet says, saying that it comes from a reliable resource.

Hoax Photos: People tend to believe hoax photos, because, the photo is either, outrageous, made to sound every believable, or ‘word gets out’ and everyone talks about it, the more people that talk about it, the more, they will believe it.

Propaganda: Many people tend to believe in propaganda because the creator of the poster, or photo, victimizes and add in ideas and thoughts that tries to capture the view of the readers, to make the ‘other side’ look like the bad guy.

  50. I think people believed the art visual as someone falling because that’s how the lines were purposefully created. I think the people believed the the opticial illusions because the way the shadows and lighting ere fixed made it seem some people looked old or young. I think the brief history of fake photos is because the people wanted to look better than they wanted to be and have the appearance of strong features.
